Adrienne Lovelock writes songs with a strong emphasis on narrative and character, telling stories of the past and the present in a fresh style that honours folk traditions. Her songs weave together folk, roots and blues, with small pinches of other musical influences to leaven the mix.
Half a lifetime ago, when Adrienne began singing in Adelaide folk clubs, traditional British, Australian and American songs formed the basis of her repertoire. The simplicity, directness and narrative power of traditional music later informed her own songwriting.
Active in South Australia’s acoustic music scene since the late 1970s, Adrienne has embraced the importance of music as a means of social exchange for people of all ages. She uses the skills learned from a lifetime of shared grassroots music in organizing music clubs and supporting songwriting development.
